Take one pier, a clutch of Cool Britannia bands (The Bluetones, Reef, Cast, Dodgy, Space and The Supernaturals for starters), and put them together in Hastings (recently announced as the heart of the area that is now dubbed the UK’s new ‘Music City-by-the-sea’) and you have a sure-fire recipe for success.
Organisers of ‘The Beano On The Sea’ (8-10 September 2017) want to take you back to a time when Radio 1 spoke your language, when the charts mattered, featuring tune after tune – and you could watch decent bands on the telly.
Three days of great music will be played on a single stage in the fresh air over the English Channel with a bill featuring some of the biggest names from an era of positivity.
The spectacular open-air venue promises to be packed with like-minded music lovers who will have come together to enjoy ten bands over three days. Beano On The Sea’s promoters say the festival will be a lot less less ‘X Factor’ more ‘feel good factor’.
The first announcement of bands is a roll call of artists who are still going strong and have years of big festival experience with top ten hits and massive selling albums to call on. And at this ’boutique’ event they’re playing one after another on the same stage where the sea is the backdrop and sing-a-longs are the soundtrack.
Forget the wellies and traipsing through fields of mud and huge crowds to see your favourite bands. This will be up close and personal in a unique setting that will be turned into an intimate musical playground for the weekend.
Festival wristbands will open exclusive doors in the evenings to club nights in Hastings and from celebrity DJ sets to performances from up-and-coming bands there will be more on the menu than the goings on at the pier.
