The festival, which will take place at The Spa, Bridlington, East Yorkshire from 22-24 October will feature headline performances Richard Hawley, Ivory Coast’s rising female star Dobet Gnahore and Jah Wobble’s dazzling circus-like Chinese Dub Orchestra.
Anxo Lorenzo, who has been described as one of the world’s best Galician pipers, Simon Emmerson’s project The Imagined Village featuring Eliza Carthy and Sheema Mukerjee on sitar, a guest appearance from Norma Waterson and punk poet icon John Cooper Clarke will also appear at the event.
The Humber region Music4U Project, who provide music-making opportunities for over 26,000 young people in the local area, will be presenting performances by the East Riding Dance Company & Scunthorpe Young People’s Choir. The Zagros Band (based in Hull) have recently been added to the bill performing their unique blend of acoustic, jazz and folk sounds.
The festival will also have much, much more over the weekend.
Musicport Festival 2010 has four stages and over 40 acts over the weekend all in one gloriously restored Art Deco building overlooking Bridlington’s extensive South Beach sands. With workshops, spoken word events, film, children’s events, festival market, DJ room and food court the festival offers an all weather alternative to the outdoor summer festivals and is many peoples chance to recapture and rekindle that festival spirit (and paddle in the sea) before the nights get way too long.
Tickets are on sale with mid-term priced tickets cost £89.50 (full price) or £82.50 (concessions) for the whole weekend with junior tickets (11 – 17 yr olds) just £45 for the weekend, Under 10 yr olds go FREE. Day & session tickets are also available.
