Nominated for 'Best Cult Following' in last year's UK Festival Awards, Wickerman's followers are like moths to a flame, the highlight of the weekend being the ritual burning of the 30ft high Wickerman at midnight on Saturday.
Inspired by the 1973 horror movie of the same name (but fortunately without any human sacrifice), The Wickerman is a family friendly festival that doesn't take itself too seriously, placing the emphasis heavily on atmosphere. Organisers have even admitted to being a bit 'amateurish' at times, but when people keep coming back and having fun who cares?!
Two main stages (the Woodward Stage and Summer Isle Stage), as well as a dance tent and an acoustic & reggae arena, play host to a mix of festival veterans (Alabama 3, The Stranglers in recent years) and new music.
