Brighton's quintessential musical getaway returns with the soundtrack to the up-coming summer, even if you don't realise it yet. Nearly 500 breaking bands showcase their music to an audience of fans and industry big wigs in 40 of the city's venues.

Glasvegas, Laura Marling and Vampire Weekend all cut their festival teeth at the seaside soiree in 2008, so expect more big names to swim rather than sink this time around.

This is set to be the biggest Great Escape so far with over 200 gigs plastered in pubs and clubs and even on the West Pier. Festival goers can watch bands on a gig-by-gig basis or buy an all-encompassing festival wristband which gives them access to all of the venues.
