About The Wickerman Festival 2009
As the name suggest, The Wickerman Festival draws its main inspiration from the cult classic horror film of the same name
and as in the movie there is a sacrificial torching of a 30-foot wicker man structure on the Saturday night.
Returning
for its eighth edition, the grass roots bash now sprawls across 120 acres of farmland near Kirkcudbright, Scotland where much
of the original filming took place.
With a strict anti-commercialistic stance, the festival attracts families and music
lovers alike with an welcoming atmosphere and an eclectic line-up that touches dance, reggae, ska, world music, Northern Soul,
funk and rock equally.
The two-day festival boasts eight stages of music and plenty of alternative entertainment including
workshops, a children's area, beer tent, craft stalls and a cinema.
