The Vaccines

The Vaccines

No doubt you’ve heard of them by now, but have you actually heard them? It’s always wise to be wary of the column inches, but sometimes they get it right, and this is one of those times. Mixing classic British pop with some Mary Chain feedback, some Motown drama and punky chants, the overall effect is akin to Mystery Jets covering The Ramones in a wind tunnel.

‘Wreckin’ Bar (Ra Ra Ra)’ crashes into you, then leaves just a minute and a half later. The Vaccines understand that great pop doesn’t outstay its welcome, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t have depth, as the likes of ‘Blow It Up’ and ‘Norgaard’ show. There’s thought behind this, but all guided by a huge sense of fun.

The shot in the arm that British guitar music desperately needs, expect to see them in a rammed tent at a festival near you this summer.
