Lana Del Rey

The gangsta Nancy Sinatra?

Probably the single of the year, the sultry sweep of 'Video Games' first set the blogs alight and then promptly took over the radio before landing in the Top 10. It also meant that Lana Del Rey quickly became the most talked-about new artist of the year, despite barely having any music out there.

So what else has she got? Well, you may know Bond-theme-in-a-better-world 'Blue Jeans' already, as she coyly coos "I will love you 'til the end of time," while the more R'n'B influenced 'You Can Be The Boss' and 'Gramma' lend a bit more weight to her claim to be "the gangsta Nancy Sinatra."

With the more eagle-eyed 'net watchers having discovered her former musical project under her real name, Lizzy Grant, questions have arisen over how much of the 'real' her is in her music. A recent UK tour full of atmospheric and affecting songs answered those emphatically. If it's all an act, Ms. Del Rey is one of the best out there.
