Wilderness 2011 has won the award for 'Best New Festival' at this years' UK Festival Awards.
The three day festival in Oxfordshire won the award after an inaugural year which featured performances from Anthony & The Johnsons, Mercury Rev, Guillemots, Gogol Bordello and Laura Marling.
The festival on Cornbury Estate celebrated three days of music, food and literature.
Cultural partners included The Old Vic making it their first festival outing, Intelligence Squared – the world leading forum for live debate, The Idler – British magazine devoted to the ethos of ‘idling’, Headspace – the meditation project aimed to demystify meditation and make it more accessible to the mainstream.
The award was decided by a judging panel made up of journalists and reviewers who have been visiting festivals and scoring them on criteria which have been set by the industry.
