The Vaccines impressively opened up the main stage at Rock en Seine early on a Sunday afternoon.
England’s new newest hit-makers, The Vaccines, backed by a long summer’s worth of FM radio staples and a knowingly Anglophile audience, were in confident form as they rattled through a compact series of choice pop-rock cuts.
The buzz surrounding the Justin Hayward-Young fronted posse had clearly swum the channel, as one of the weekend’s largest crowds was in attendance to bop along with new festival staples ‘If you Wanna‘, ‘Post Break-up Sex‘ and ‘All in White‘.
The band also took the chance to expand on their debut LP with two new songs in amongst the fold. One of these, ‘Good Guys Don’t Always Wear White‘, hinted at a subtle dynamic change, alluding strongly to The Hives‘ ‘Main Offender‘ but adding a groove-along bassline for good measure.
With the sun having finally checked in to Paris, The Vaccines departed to a rousing ‘Norgaard‘, leaving the crowd heartily satisfied heading into the afternoon.
