UK Festival Awards 2011 organisers have revealed that several of this year's categories will be decided by a panel of judges, in a change from the public-vote system they have used in the past.
The awards, which will take place on Tuesday 15 November at the Roundhouse Camden, will see a judging panel of over 100 journalists and experienced reviewers pick the winners, in a move to ensure fairer voting.
This new system applies to the ‘Best Festival’ award categories, including Best Major / Medium / Small Festival, Best Metropolitan Festival, Best New Festival, Best Family Festival, and Best Toilets.
The festival-going public will still be able to have their say, however, in the new Fan’s Favourite Festival category as well as existing public-voted categories such as Headliner of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and Best Overseas Festival.
Last year’s sold-out event saw AC/DC, Florence & The Machine, Paolo Nutini and Biffy Clyro honoured, with T In The Park Festival Director Geoff Ellis picking up the Lifetime Achievement Award.
