The latest gig and festival ticket news including the resurrected Stone Roses, CSS, and the soon-to-be-gone Westlife.
The Stone Roses
It’s been the best worst kept secret in music’s long history and Stone Roses triumphant reunion, or ‘reunification’ if you believe the press release, has had every tongue waggler spouting some opinion or another. One thing undeniable is the two hometown shows they announced in Heaton Park, Manchester will be popular events. Tickets go on sale tomorrow from 9:30am and we’ll have the ticket links on Virtual Festivals. Tickets are priced at £55 plus booking fee, and limited to four per person.
Heaton Park, Manchester – June 29-30
CSS, or Cansei de Ser Sexy to give them their full name, have been remarkably mute since their sophomore effort ‘Donkey’ in 2008. ‘La Liberación’ however is the return from the quiet spell, and like all things Lovefoxxx is involved with, it’s far from quiet. Catch them being loud at these shows:
London Heaven (December 7)
Coventry Kasbah (8)
Lancaster Library (9)
It’s been some year for Jill, a new major record label deal, and a critically acclaimed fourth album which went straight to the top of the US charts. Still a growing star this side of the Atlantic she plays two of her biggest UK shows in London and Manchester next month.
O2 Academy Brixton, London (Nov 30th)
O2 Apollo, Manchester (Dec 2nd)
The Ting Tings
You remembered these guys? Their name and that? It’s the duo with the drums, and the keyboard thing, back with more pop-rocking beats and attitude to melt butter in your mouth. This ‘comeback’ comes with a twist. The band are asking students to create fashion items for them to wear, make a music video, mix their tracks and come up with poster and artwork designs. The work will then be used and showcased by Katie and Jules at each venue. Intrigued? Check it out here:

One moment you’re on the ceiling, taking in the news that Steps are back and touring, and then ‘wham’ your life changes forever – again. Westlife are dead, long live Westlife. This Irish singing boy band thing really did them well and we wish them all the best in whatever they decide to do next. For now it’s time for to sit down on a stall and then do one big strategic stand up as the chorus kicks in for the final time.
