Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer and Megadeth have announced a one-off arena date in Gelsenkirechen, Germany.
The bands will also be playing in Indio, California on April 23, the UK Sonisphere Festival on Friday July 8, and the French Sonisphere Festival on Saturday July 9. A posting on the Big Four’s website noted that further shows (believed to include existing European Sonisphere events) would be announced in the coming weeks.
In June, ‘The Big Four’ of thrash metal released a two-disc DVD titled The Big Four: Live From Sofia, Bulgaria. It debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Top Music Videos sales chart and sold 22,000 copies in the first week. The same show became the world’s first music festival to be broadcast live, simultaneously, into hundreds of cinemas worldwide and famously incited the first ever mosh-pit in London’s Leicester Square Odeon.
The foursome had made rock history with their debut appearances together on the same stage at a selection of European Sonisphere Festivals last year.
The German show will take place at the Veltins Arena, Germany on 2 July 2011.
Tickets are on sale now priced at 70.90 Euros.
