The Strokes are rumoured for a headline slot at next year's Reading and Leeds festivals.
The New York band have a new album out early in 2011 and are in line to top the bill at the August events, according to The Sun.
Their last appearance at the festival was in 2002 and it has been nearly five years since the release of their last LP, ‘First Impressions Of Earth’.
Last year The Strokes headlined Isle of Wight Festival and RockNess.
Other bands rumoured to be playing include Muse, Soundgarden and Green Day.
Reading Festival 2011 will take place at St John’s Farm, Reading and Leeds Festival 2011 is set to be housed at Branham Park, Yorkshire. Both will take place from 26-28 August.
Early bird Reading and Leeds Festival 2011 tickets are due to go on sale in December.
