The Naked And Famous at Leeds Festival 2011 - review. We want your reviews too!
Someone obviously forgot to tell The Naked And Famous that today is the ugly side of the Leeds bill.
While Bring Me The Horizon blast out their aggressive, nasty metal on the main stage, the Radio 1/NME tent is home to a chilled, elegant set that packs a touch of straight up rock n roll with the glittering indie electro.
That a band as chock full of the sort of gorgeous, massive pop melodies that shine through on opening efforts ‘Passive Me, Aggressive You’ and ‘Punching In A Dream’ aren’t playing the biggest stage to a bigger crowd is sinful. It is a matter of when, not if for New Zealand’s finest export.
Only a mid-set lull of more tame, less catchy numbers stop this from being a true highlight of the weekend.
However, when they are good, they sound destined to knock Adele and the other overrated mopes from the top of the charts, as demonstrated on the colossal and anthemic climax, ‘Young Blood’. Stunning.
