The Darkness are the first headliners to be announced for the return of the Forestry Commission's annual series of gigs next year.
The reformed Suffolk rockers will be playing a local show in Thetford Forest on Saturday 14 July for Forestry Commission Live Music 2012, with the woodland glade temporarily transformed into a concert venue, and ticket sales going towards improving the forest.
The band reconvened earlier this year, making their festival comeback at Download 2011.
Singer Justin Hawkins said of the new show: “I have often walked through Thetford Forest, enchanted by bird-song, mesmerised by the rhythm of nesting squirrels. My urge to fill the trees with music of my own can no longer be denied. Thetford has provided The Darkness with much enchantment and inspiration over the years. It’s time we gave something bark”
Support acts for the show are still to be announced.
Tickets go on sale this Friday (25 November) priced at £36 (plus booking fee), from the Forestry Commission website and their telephone box office on 03000 680400 .
