System Of The Down are set to headline Download Festival 2011, organisers have revealed.
The reformed group will play the main stage when the event returns to Donington Park from 10-12 June.
It has not yet been confirmed which day they will perform.
“We are excited to announce that System will be playing some dates together in 2011,” the band announced in a statement today.
“We have no master plan of sorts – we are playing these shows simply because we want to play together again as a band and for you, our amazing fans. We look forward to seeing all of you!”
They will be joined by Californian metallers Avenged Sevenfold, who festival chief Andy Copping described as a, “future Download headliner for sure”.
Download Festival tickets go on sale on Friday 3 December at 9am.
Weekend tickets will start from £145 with R.I.P., lockers and parking permits also available.
Day tickets are expected to go on sale in the coming weeks.
A ticket link and story will appear on Virtual Festivals when they are available.
