Sunrise Celebration has been selected by the Guardian newspaper to receive the Ethical Travel Award 2011.
Organiser Dan Hurring, accepted the award on behalf of Sunrise Celebration in Tenerife at the Guardian Travel Awards ceremony last week.
Hurring said: “We are delighted to have received this recognition from the Guardian and Observer newspapers. It’s such an honour to be noticed for our ethos and efforts in terms of sustainability and positive social change.
“The Guardian share many of our ethics and have a commitment to truth and openness, two values we really care about, so to receive this from them is all the more special.”
Sunrise Celebration runs on 100% sustainable power including solar, wind and re-cycled vegetable oil and has already been presented the Best Green Festival award by Green Parent Magazine earlier this year.
Sunrise Celebration 2012, which is held at Gilcombe Farm in Somerset changes its dates to the Solstice weekend, 21–24 June, to take advantage of Glastonbury having a year break.
