The Stone Roses have ended days of speculation and confirmed their reformtion and plans for 2012 world tour.

Speaking together as a band for the first time since 1996 the Madchester legends revealed plans to play huge homecoming shows at Heaton Park, Manchester on Friday June 29 and Saturday June 30, 2012.

Tickets go on sale at 9.30am this Friday, October 21 and Virtual Festivals will have the official ticket links available here when they go on sale.

The band have also announced plans to tour the world in 2012 but no further dates have been confirmed. Insider sources have told Virtual Festivals the band will be playing V Festival next summer.

There has been ongoing speculation about the band reuniting but these intensified in April when Ian Brown and John Squire met at Mani’s mum’s funeral and reportedly buried the hatchet.

The band officially split after a performance at Reading Festival in August 1996 – a gig that went down in history in one of the worst in the festivals history as Ian Brown missed every note.
