Spiritualized have cancelled their headlining appearance at Standon Calling 2011, due to mainman Jason Pierce's ill health.
The band’s Saturday 13 August appearance at the Hertfordshire festival is off, along with a show at Castelbuono in Sicily on Friday 5 August.
A spokesman said: “J. Spaceman (Pierce) has been undergoing a course of medical treatment, which is near completion, and has left management no choice but to cancel following advice from his medical team.”
He added: “Everything possible has been done to try and play these shows but it recently became apparent that Jason would not be able to perform.”
“Spiritualized apologise to everyone who is affected and hope they realise that cancellation was the only unavoidable option given the medical circumstances.”
It was also stressed that Pierce‘s health was “not a long term issue” and UK tour dates in October and February and the release of the band’s forthcoming seventh studio album would not be affected.
It’s not yet clear whether Spiritualized will be replaced on the Standon Calling 2011 line-up.
Battles are set to play alongside the likes of Hercules & Love Affair, Saul Williams and Egyptian Hip Hop.
Standon Calling 2011 tickets are still on sale now priced at £120.
