Sonisphere scoops Best New Festival award

Sonisphere Festival scooped the Best New Festival prize at the UK Festival Awards tonight (Thursday).

Despite the economic downturn, organisers of the heavy rock venture still managed to attract 80,000 fans to Knebworth House to watch the likes of Metallica and Linkin Park.

Sticking with debuts, Camden Crawl won the newest award category Best Metropolitan Festival, seeing off the likes of The Great Escape, Dot To Dot and Stag And Dagger festivals.

was crowned Best Dance Event after a sell out event this year, while LeeFest took away the Best Grass Roots Festival gong.

A Greener Festival unveiled Croissant Neuf Summer Party as the overall winner of The Greener Festival Award while T In The Park took away the prize for Best Toilets.
