Silverchair have pulled out of all of their forthcoming live performances, including a scheduled appearance at V2002, due to illness. The band were due to play at the event alongside headliners Stereophonics and Travis at Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park, Staffs on the weekend of August 17th and 18th.
Silverchair have cancelled all their concert engagements due to further deterioration in the health of lead singer and guitarist, Daniel Johns who has been suffering from reactive arthritis. Johns, who is going out with Natalie Imbruglia, states: “I am truly sorry that I am not able to do the touring we had planned for so long. I apologize for the inconvenience these cancellations will cause. I am doing everything humanly possible to try and get well but lately things have just kept getting worse.”
A full statement has been issued by their record company, Atlantic Records on their official website, http://www.chairpage.com. Please scroll down to the notes to editors section for the full statement. A replacement act for V2002 will be announced in the next few weeks.
In other V2002 news, promoters have announced that tickets are selling extremely well this year, exceeding all expectations from previous V’s.
A V2002 spokesperson commented:
“The first weekend of sales were great and the momentum has remained throughout, keeping V at its highest year-on-year sales in our seven year history. We would advise people to buy tickets sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.”
