US band Scissor Sisters are the first act officially confirmed to headline this year's V Festival, with the second bill topper expected to be announced in the next two weeks.
The NYC five-piece will have the honour of headlining the V main stage to help celebrate the festival’s tenth anniversary year. Scissor Sisters will play at the Staffs site on the Saturday and then close the Chelmsford leg of the festival on the Sunday.
Oasis and Maroon 5 are expected to join them at the top of the bill.
It’s good timing for Scissor Sisters, who are currently nominated for three awards at this week’s BRITS: 2005 International Group, 2005 International Album and 2005 International Breakthrough Act.
Festival Director Bob Angus said: “Scissor Sisters’ performance on the NME stage at last year’s festival is hailed as pivotal to this breakthrough and we wish them the best of luck for the BRITS. They continually receive rave reviews for their releases and we can’t wait to be blown away by another live performance again this year. In the coming weeks we plan to unveil a phenomenal joint headline act who, with the Scissor Sisters, will make it one of our best line ups yet – worthy of our 10th anniversary status!”
V Festival takes place at Hylands Park, Chelmsford (CLICK HERE), and Weston Park, Staffs (CLICK HERE), on the weekend of 20-21 August 2005.
