A festival-goer died at Roskilde this weekend after falling from a 98ft tower at the Danish event, police have confirmed.
The woman, believed to be aged between 25-30, has not yet been identified, while another person involved in the incident suffered only minor injuries.
The tower was part of an aerial cable ride run by one of the event’s sponsors in the camping area.
It’s the first fatality at the festival since 2000, when nine festival-goers were killed after a crowd surge during Pearl Jam‘s set.
This lead to a number of crowd safety measures being introduced that led to the festival becoming regarded as one of the safest, with many other events adopting similar systems.
Roskilde organiser Mads Mikkelsen said the accident was “very tragic”, declining to give any further comment until being informed of all the facts by police, who are still investigating.
