Phoenix Festival could be relaunched next year, according to its creator Vince Power.
The event ran for five years in the nineties, giving The Sex Pistols their first UK festival headline slot in 1996, before ending after 1998’s festival was cancelled due to poor ticket sales.
In the programme for last weekend’s Hop Farm Festival, Power wrote: “For those of you who remember the Phoenix Festival, it’s my intention to resurrect this festival next year as Glastonbury is taking a break.”
It’s not yet clear whether the festival would be a one-off, or whether it would return to its old location of Long Marston Airfield near Stratford-upon-Avon.
Power already relaunched his old Fleadh festival as the London Feis earlier this year, in addition to the fourth year of Hop Farm.
