The first bands for the Reading and Leeds 2011 line up on the BBC Introducing Stage have been announced, as the winners of the annual Futuresound competition were revealed.
Overall winners The Coopers will open the Festival Republic Stage at both sites.
The five runners-up, Arthur Rigby and the Baskervylles, Castrovalva, The Simon Pollard Band, Circles and Heartships will all play the BBC Introducing Stage at Reading and Leeds.
They join The Mexanines, who were the first band confirmed for the stage having won the Centre Stage 2011 competition at the O2 Academy Leeds last week.
My Chemical Romance, The Strokes, Pulp and Muse will headline this year’s events, which take place at Richfield Avenue, Reading and Bramham Park, Leeds on 26-28 August.

Weekend tickets for both sites are on sale now, priced at £192.50. Reading 2011 day tickets for Saturday 27 August (The Strokes/Pulp headline) and Sunday 28 August (Muse headline) are sold out.
