Meshuggah are to play Bloodstock Open Air this August on the newly named Ronnie James Dio Stage, their own UK festival date of the year.
The main stage will be dedicated to the late Ronnie James Dio who lost his battle to cancer earlier this week.
The rock legend was the frontman of many bands including Heaven and Hell who were due headline the main stage at Bloodstock as one of many festival appearances this year.
The band bill-topping replacement is to be announced on 14 June with Meshuggah confirmed as their special guests.
Welsh death metal band Desecration have also been added to the bill for this mighty metal fest and will appear on the festival’s Sophie Lancaster stage.
Speaking about their debut at the event the band said: “With Bloodstock fast becoming ‘THE’ UK metal festival for real metal fans we’re over the moon to be included in this year’s line up.”
Already confirmed for this August’s festival include Behemoth, Ensiferum, Ross the Boss, Children of Bodom, Twisted Sister, Fear Factory and Cannibal Corpse.
The festival will also host performances from Enforcer, Benediction, Killing Machine, Steel Wing and more too.
