Local acts win slots at Leeds

Competition winners Wintermute are set to play on the Carling Stage at this year's Leeds Festival held at Bramham Park 24-26 August.

The Yorkshire quartet were announced as the overall winners of the annual Futuresound competition this week earning them the chance to perform alongside the likes of Albert Hammond Jr, Alberta Cross and The Hold Steady.

Futuresound gives local unsigned bands the chance to appear at the festival and the five other winners selected to play the Unsigned Stage are New Vinyl, Rochelle, International Trust, Micky P Kerr and The Debuts.

They will be joining another local band, Forward Russia!, on the bill as the Leeds four-piece will be headlining the stage which will be open on Thursday night for the first time.
