Johnny Flynn at Bestival 2011 - review. We want your reviews too!
Sunday morning of the Bestival with no bog roll, booze or Berocca left but in serious need of a pep-up? If the idea of Mr Motivator on main stage doesn’t float your boat, ye olde folk singer Johnny Flynn is gracing the Big Top for his last tour date of the year. Droves of doe-eyed girls have already flocked to the front to catch a glimpse.
A bashful Flynn addresses an ever-growing crowd with a simple, “Hey.” The screams that follow can probably be heard from the very depths of the Ambient Forest as the band dig up a few ditties from their debut album including ‘The Box’, ‘Eyeless in Holloway’ and ‘Cold Bread’.
Eerie four-part harmonies and Flynn’s Dylan-esque vocals set feet stomping and hearts a-flutter. With a rousing rendition of ‘Tickle Me Pink’ to tie up the set, Flynn ends this tour with a throng of new fans… and marriage proposals.
