Jimmy Eat World wow at Hurricane Festival

Sunshine prevailed despite predicted downpours at Hurricane Festival on a glorious day dominated by pop-punk, emo and hardcore, topped with a career-spanning set from veterans Jimmy Eat World.

The Arizona band played to a swelling, tightly packed crowd, lapping up singles ‘Bleed American’, ‘The Middle’ and ‘Pain’, with closer, ‘Sweetness’ providing the sing a long moment if the day.

Earlier, You Me At Six, Converge, Parkway Drive and Comeback Kid caused mayhem in the red tent, before Portishead delivered a masterful atmospheric audio-visual show on the main stage.

Arcade Fire and The Chemical Brothers are due to blow away crowds at the end of a heavy, intense first days music at Hurricane Festival 2011.
