The Isle Of Wight Festival 2005 was granted its license at a council meeting yesterday (Tuesday), after promoters promised the event would be "better, not bigger".
[r-zone1]The main concern raised by councillors was hygiene, after problems last year emptying on-site toilets. However, the event’s organiser and promoter Solo reassured the council that they’d be emptied more frequently this year.
[l-zone2]The company has been given permission for a capacity of 40,000, but only intends to sell 35,000 tickets. Two objections were raised by residents, one of which was withdrawn after consultation with the promoters, according to Solent TV.
The Isle Of Wight Festival takes place at Seaclose Park, Newport, between 10-12 June.
[r-zone3]No acts have been confirmed yet, but the first batch of bands is expected to be announced before the end of the month. There are a number of ‘early bird’ ticket packages available through Red Funnel ferries before 24 January. CLICK HERE for details.
[l-zone4]Standard weekend and day tickets are also available HERE. The festival is open from 5-11pm on the Friday, 11am-Midnight on Saturday, and 11am-11pm on Sunday.
