The heavy metal super-group Heaven And Hell have been forced to cancel all of their planned summer festival appearances due to frontman Ronnie James Dio's current battle with cancer.
The 67 year-old one-time Black Sabbath singer, who plays in Heaven And Hell along with original Sabbath members Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler, was diagnosed with stomach cancer in November 2009, but his good progress prompted the band to book a series of UK and European dates this summer.
Unfortunately though, the shows at Bloodstock in the UK and Sonisphere in Switzerland, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey have all come too soon for the singer.
In a statement, the band said, “We have to announce that all forthcoming Heaven And Hell European shows have been cancelled as sadly Ronnie isn’t well enough to tour this summer. We hope that everyone understands and want to thank fans and industry colleagues for their continuing support at this time.”
