Our ultimate fantasy festival would feature The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Stones, Queen and Abba all playing in an idyllic mediterannean setting. Rock The Med is now turning our fantasy into reality... sort of.
The two-day event aims to become the world’s biggest tribute band festival with an international audience of 15,000 expected to gather in the beautiful gardens of Chateau Vilmy, lying at the foot of the Pyrennes with sweeping views over the Mediterranean.
Bands confirmed to play include Bjorn Again, The Bootleg Beatles, The Counterfeit Stones, The UK Beach Boys, Boot-Led-Zeppelin, Killer-Queen, T Rextasy and Nearly Dan.
A spokesman for the event said: “Imagine a music festival where you know every song. Well now you can.”
“But the star of Rock The Med may actually be the location itself. The site’s surrounding parkland provides a natural amphitheatre that gives the audience unrestricted views of the stage, in the shadow of a white gothic fairytale castle. The line up for 2006 matches the superb setting of the chateau parklands.”
The area of Argeles is also a stunning holiday resort in its own right with great facilities for festival goers to enjoy a relaxing break alongside the two day event. Local food and wines are among the finest in France, while the venue itself is surrounded by vineyards.
Tickets for the festival are priced £65 with travel packages available from £68. Although there will be no camping, organisers say they can arrange accommodation from as little as £7 a night.
