Glastonbury wins Best Festival gong at Live UK Awards

Glastonbury Festival picked up the Best Festival gong at the Live UK Business Awards last night (Thursday 6 October).

The Somerset bash, which is taking a year off next summer, was victorious in the over 40,000 capacity category seeing away competition from Download, Isle of Wight Festival, Reading, Sonisphere, T In the Park and V Festival.

Secret Garden Party was given the same honour in the 15,000-40,000 capacity group beating Bestival, The Big Chill, RockNess, Guilfest, Latitude and High Voltage.

Elsewhere, Kendal Calling won Best Festival in the under 15,000 category defeating Beautiful Days, End of the Road, Wakestock, Cambridge Folk Festival, Kick Out The Jams and Belladrum Festival.

Slipknot took home the Best Festival Performance honour following their epic show at Sonisphere this summer.
The American rockers closed out competition from the likes of Beyoncé, Chase and Status, Foo Fighters, Pulp, Coldplay, My Chemical Romance, Caravan, Prince, Eminem, System of a Down and The Chemical Brothers.

Winners were shortlisted by experts and then voted for by Live UK users.
