Buraka Som Sistema and the legendary New York dance outfit Chic, featuring Nile Rodgers, have both been newly confirmed for Beat-Herder 2013.
The final names to join the Beat-Herder line-up for 2013 join previously announced headliners Groove Armada and Jimmy Cliff. American disco and R&B band Chic will now also headline the festival, with founding member Nile Rodgers bringing his distinctive sound and repertoire to the show. The 60-year-old guitarist recently made a guest appearence on the number one Daft Punk single ‘Get Lucky’.
Portugese dance project Buraka Som Sistema were founded in 2006 and have gone on to receive critical acclaim with their blistering live show which will get a rare outing at Beat-Herder 2013.
Tom Starr, Concrete Knives, Grinny Grandad, Mumbai, Cable Street Collective, Father Funk and Zion Train vocalist Dub Dadda have all been newly announced to play the festival.
Feed Me, Norman Jay, Jaguar Skills and Booka Shade, who play a live set, are part of the line-up already announced for the three day festival in Lancashire.
Beat-Herder 2013 takes place at The Ribble Valley, Lancashire from 5-7 July and the festival professes to be ‘a world like no other’. Nestled in a valley in the heart of Lancashire, the site encompasses rolling hills, stone circles, fire pits and a network of secret underground tunnels accessed through telephone boxes. It brings together a working men’s club (complete with a troupe of Bette Lynch esque ‘ladies’), 10 feet high wicker foxes, giant lizards made from hollowed out old fighter planes and dozens of stages and soundsystems.
