Red Hot Chili Peppers are the first headliners confirmed for Denmark's Roskilde Festival which returns on 5 - 8 July, 2007. A UK festival appearance by the Californian rockers is looking increasingly likely - but not at Glastonbury!
It has not yet been revealed which day the band will perform at the festival. Tickets for Roskilde 2007 are on-sale now, priced £130 (+ booking fee) for the full weekend, here.
Yesterday, we announced that the Chilis will headline Coachella Festival in the USA on Saturday 28 April. Given that they will be touring Europe in June, a British festival appearance that month looks likely. Possible candidates would include Download (8-10 June), Isle of Wight (8-10 June), O2 Wireless (14-17 June) and Hyde Park Calling (23-24 June).
They will definitely not be appearing at Glastonbury, however, according to a source close to the festival, who recently revealed that the band even offered to play for free! Reluctantly, organiser Michael Eavis had to decline their generous offer, because all three of his Pyramid headliners were already booked.
