The Charlatans are first headliner to be confirmed for the Isle Of Wight Festival's Big Top.
The band will not only bring the stage to a close on the Sunday (14 June) but lead singer Tim Burgess will be curating the entire day's line-up.
Speaking about playing and shaping the Big Top, frontman Burgess said: "I am proud to have been asked to curate the Big Top’s line-up at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival on Sunday the 14th June with The Charlatans headlining the tent.
"I have already approached quite a few impressive new bands (some you will know, some you might not). The Isle of Wight Festival is a special festival to me so all up and coming bands, be on the look out – you could be taking the stage at The Isle of Wight!!"
It will be the third time the Brit Poppers have played the festival after appearances in 2002 and 2004.
They join a bill which already includes main stage headliners The Prodigy as well as Basement Jaxx, Pendulum and The Ting Tings.
Isle Of Wight Festival 2009 will take place at Seaclose Park, Newport on the Isle Of Wight from 12-14 June.
Tickets for this year's event are on sale now priced at £140 for an adult weekend pass with camping or £70 for child camping ticket.
Non-camping passes will set you back £120 for adults and £60 for children.
50,000 fans are expected to attend the festival, which has sold out for the last three years.
