Stoke Park in Guildford, Surrey had traditional been the home to Guilfest, which declared insolvency back in September of last year. News that the local borough council had began discussion with Live Nation to host this event prompted this response from festival founder Tony Scott:
“We are surprised and saddened to hear that Guildford Borough Council has agreed to let Live Nation host a music event on Stoke Park this summer. We’d hoped after discussions at the end of last year between Guildford Borough Council and ourselves, there may have been the possibility for us to put on another “GuilFest mark 2” in the summer but with this news it seems this will no longer be possible.
After 21 fantastic years of putting on GuilFest, we’d like to say a huge thank you to the many thousands who’ve been either involved or attended making GuilFest one of the best festivals of its kind in the UK culminating in winning the UK’s Best Family Festival Award in 2006.
We really hope that this wont be the end and that in the near future we will be back with another festival.”
Magic Summer Live tickets go on sale Friday 15 March at 8am and are priced at £60 for adults and £30 for children. Two-day tickets are prices at £110 for adults and £55 for children, all subject to booking fee.
