Blink 182 close Reading Festival in style

"I'm not just saying this because we're here tonight, but Reading kicks the shit out of Leeds," say Blink 182 in a triumphant closing set at the festival.

Singer Tom DeLonge declared that the southern leg was better during a hit-filled set that was appreciated by the biggest headline crowd of the weekend before the punks flew into ‘Man Overboard’.

“We want everyone here to have a great time and go home together in one piece,”
he told at the start of the set before adding, “Hey! There’s 100,000 people here, what the fuck is happening! We’re Blink 182 and it’s great to be back here,” to a rapturous response.

‘What’s My Age Again’ was fired off early and soon after the punk-addled joy of ‘Girl At The Rock Show’ followed.

After some rather biblical showers in the day, the group declared: “It’s not raining in the first time in eight shows out here.” They obviously hadn’t been here as long the biggest headline crowd of the weekend.

The group even used their time to take the mick out of Guns N’ Roses’ bill-topping set two days earlier. "I'm sorry you guys missed out on Guns N' Roses on Friday night," Hoppus told the crowd, "but Tom's going to play the intro to 'Sweet Child O' Mine'."

After a poor attempt to cover the track, DeLonge concluded: "I haven't practised it! Axl Rose is naked with my dad."

Towards the end of the set, ‘All The Small Things’ got the biggest cheer of the evening before the band went on to finish with ‘Carousel’ followed by ‘Dammit’ as they had done in Leeds.
