Beady Eye at Reading Festival 2011 - review. We want your reviews too!
Having a go at the sound man aside, Liam Gallagher seems to have chilled out with age, and left the arrogance of yesteryear behind. Arriving on the Radio 1/NME Stage ten minutes later than billed, he simply greeted the crowd with “Hello, we’re Beady Eye”, and let the music do the talking.
That’s not to mean the former-Oasis front man doesn’t still ham up his onstage bravado with some parka jacket collar popping for added measure.
Musically, Beady Eye wears its influences on its sleeve, clearly inspired by ‘Magical Mystery Tour’-era Beatles. Single ‘The Roller’ is a staple slice of psychedelic rock n roll that gets the best response and prompts Gallagher to compliment the crowd on being “beautiful”.
A great tent headlining debut then, with just the right amount of drama and substance.
