Arctic Monkeys are the first headliner to be announced for this year's Reading and Leeds Festivals.
The Sheffield quartet, famed for tracks like ‘When The Sun Goes Down’, ‘Mardy Bum’ and ‘I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor’, are the first band confirmed before the other acts are revealed at 7pm tonight (30 April).
The band, fronted by Alex Turner, will top the bill at Leeds on the Friday (28 August) before travelling down the M1 to Reading to close the main stage on the Saturday (29 August).
Reading Festival 2009 will take place at Little Johns Farm, Reading, while Leeds Festival 2009 is set to be held at Branham Park, Leeds.
Both run from 28-30 August and share the same line-up.
General release tickets go on sale today at 7pm.
