On stage it's all war and tidal waves but off it Arcade Fire seem happier talking about headlining stages at Reading and Leeds. And could they be joined by another bunch of north American doom merchants?
Arcade Fire have been lined up to headline the Radio 1/NME Stage at this year’s Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds festivals.
The news was revealed by singer Win Butler during an interview with student fanzine ‘Don’t Try This At Home’ after the band’s recent gig in Manchester.
He also revealed that Patrick Wolf will be performing during their set, playing the ukulele on forthcoming single ‘Keep The Car Running’, and hinted at other guest collaborations on the night.
Arcade Fire last played the second stage at Reading and Leeds in 2005, when they appeared third on the bill before Babyshambles and The Tears.
The acclaimed Canadians have already been confirmed to play T In The Park and Oxegen and also look set to perform at Glastonbury.
Nine Inch Nails are another good bet to join them at the Carling Weekend. The US rockers cancelled their scheduled Birmingham gig last week and have since announced they’ll be rescheduling it for either 27 or 28 August – the two days after the festivals.
All will be revealed when the first lineup announcement is made this coming Monday (19th) at 7pm. We’ll of course be bringing you the news as it happens but you can check our latest rumours HERE.
The Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds festivals take place at Little Johns Farm and Bramham Park from 24-26 August.
