The Stone Roses' first three shows in Manchester for fourteen years have become the fastest selling rock gigs in UK history.

222,000 tickets for the shows at Heaton Park, Manchester from June 29 – July 1st sold out in 68 minutes.

The first two shows announced this morning sold out in 14 minutes. On receiving the news Ian Brown said: “We plan on spending the rest of the day jumping up and down with our hands in the air.”

After days of speculation over a possible return the band announced in a press conference on Monday they were to reform for a world tour in 2012 and to write new material.

Rumours now continue about possible UK and European dates in 2012, including festival dates at V Festival and Phoenix Festival next summer.
