Contrary to a report in today's papers, AC/DC will definitely not be appearing at T in the Park in 2009 - says the festival director.
The Sun ran the story today (here), ahead of tickets going on-sale this Friday. It claimed that the veteran rockers deliberately left Scotland off their forthcoming UK tour (in April), because they were planning to headline T in the Park later on in the year. Furthermore, the paper claimed that the appearance would be an "emotional homecoming show" because guitarists Angus and Malcolm Young were originally from Glasgow before they emigrated to Australia.
However, T in the Park boss Geoff Ellis (pictured) has scotched the story, saying: "I can confirm that AC/DC will not be playing at T in the Park 2009. We do not want AC/DC fans to buy a ticket for T in the Park under false pretences as this would not only disappoint them, but also the many people desperate to get their hands on a T in the Park ticket regardless of the headliner."
T in the Park, fresh recipient of "Best Line-Up" in the 2008 UK Festival Awards, returns to Balado on 10-12 July. David Bowie and Daft Punk are strongly rumoured to appear.
