Carter wins majority at Snowbombing 2011
Decks cut out during Backcountry Party
Daniel Fahey - 05 April 2011
The DJ took the most plaudits at the one-off bash as some 200-odd ticket-holders headed out of the main town for an evening
of decent beats and local brews.
Russ Cuban, from notorious Snowbombing-regulars the Cuban Brothers, opened the evening with a set of sampled breaks that included Dr Dre, Aretha Franklin and Fatboy Slim until every DJs nightmare occurred: the sound cut out.
Jon Kahuna, from FC/Kahuna tried to power things back up but his house set fell short even when he threw in a remix of Michael Jackson’s ‘Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'’ that barely shook the foundations of the alpine lodge.
A reworking of ‘Don’t You Want Me’ by the Human League and the Eurhythmics' ‘Sweet Dreams’ had the crowd singing along but it was a little too late.
A deep house showing from DJ Jon Carter was the discerning choice for dance music lovers as Snowbombing finally kicked off tonight (Monday) with a dizzying hurrah.
Pendulum, Andy C and Skream And Benga also played Volvo Snowbombing 2011.
