Reading and Leeds Headliners Announced

29 March 2004
The line-up
for The Carling Weekend has largely confirmed what rumours had been indicating for a while with the announcement
that The White Stripes and The Darkness are headlining two of the days. Green Day
will headline the third day.
Jack White had already confirmed the band's appearance to fans during
a gig at London's Brixton Academy on January 30th, saying that having pulled out in 2003 they would play
this summer instead.
The Darkness' name at the top of the bill will surprise nobody given their meteoric rise in the
last year and the their appearance at nearly every other festival, with perhaps the notable exception of Glastonbury.
Confirmed
so far: The Darkness, The Offspring, Ash, The Hives (Friday Reading/Saturday Leeds), White Stripes, Morrissey,
The Libertines, Franz Ferdinand (Saturday Reading/Sunday Leeds) with Green Day and 50 Cent (Sunday
Reading/Friday Leeds). Other confirmations include Lostprophets and The Streets.
The Carling Weekend Reading and Leeds Festival takes place over their weekend of August 27-29 at Richfield Avenue, Reading and Bramham Park, Wetherby, West Yorkshire. Tickets cost £105 (weekend) or £45 (day), plus booking fee, and postage and are available NOW from the Virtual Festivals ticket shop. Only weekend tickets include camping.
