The Joy Formidable wow at Eurosonic 2011

The group wowed the crowd as they ran through tracks from their upcoming album ‘The Big Roar’ including an anthemic
‘Cradle’ and fan favourite ‘Austere’.
Frontwoman Ritzy Bryan marked her
exit by chucking her guitar down, while bassist Rhydian Dafydd stamped on his bass before disappearing backstage.
“I enjoyed it,” Dafydd told Virtual Festivals following the
gig, adding, “I loved it around 111%.”
Elsewhere, James Blake had fans queuing around the block for a heaving show at Simplon.
The emerging
post-dubstep star got the biggest cheer for his cover of Fiest’s ‘Limit To Your Love’ on which the bass
bins rattled around the room.
Earlier in the evening, Pulled Apart By Horses’ frontman Tom Hudson had chucked himself into the crowd
during their first song and smooth French star Ben l’Oncle Soul filled the Grand Theatre with fans
– and a cover of Aqua’s ‘Barbie Girl’.
There were also sets from The King Blues, Ben Howard,
Crystal Fighters and many more.
Eurosonic Nooderslag 2011 continues tonight with performances
from Brother, Anna Calvi, De Staat and more.
