Morrissey: "Some of you have Ipods, I have Meltdown"

Morrissey will be Artistic Director for the twelfth annual Meltdown Festival. The festival is renowned for it's eclectic mix of classical, rock, dance, contemporary and performance arts, and each year Meltdown offers one artist the chance to create their own fantasy festival.

Last year 'Mozza' released 'Morrissey: Under The Influence' ; an album of tracks by the artists that have inspired him over the years, which included tracks by Patti Smith, Diana Dors and The Sundown Playboys. So its probably safe to assume that Meltdown's line-up will be similarly diverse and should include a few surprises.

Its not been confirmed yet whether Morrissey will perform himself, but all will be revealed when the line-up is announced shortly.

The former Smiths frontman follows in the footsteps of John Peel, David Bowie and Lee 'Scratch' Perry among others as curator of the festival.

Meltdown runs from 11 June - 27 June at London's Royal Festival Hall, and tickets will go on sale shortly.
