Slipknot to headline Sonisphere UK
With more headliners to be announced on Monday
03 December 2010
According to Slipknot: “We’re looking
forward to spending our summer in Europe. This tour is about us and our fans. It’s about celebrating the life of our
brother, Paul and his legacy. The door is neither open nor closed. This tour is about burning down that door. See you
Drummer Joey Jordison recently stated that the band are not planning to replace Gray, but for live shows they will use a stand-in bass player situated at the back of the stage, and not out-front with the rest of the band. He also claimed that the band were already working on new material, however this was subsequently debunked by frontman Corey Taylor who insisted they are purely focusing on the live gigs and will not be recording.
Recently voted runner-up for Best Major Festival in the UK Festival Awards (in just its second year), the three day hard rock festival will be announcing more headliners on Monday (6th).
The festival, which also tours across Europe and is adding stops in France and Italy in 2011, will be announcing details of free offers to overseas events for early Knebworth ticket purchasers. Last year, 5000 Brits took up this offer and caught the first ever Big Four show at Sonisphere Poland.
The advance deposit scheme, which allows people to secure a ticket by paying a small deposit and settling the full balance at a later date, will also return. Details on both will be announced shortly.
Tickets will go on-sale at 9am on Friday 10th December, available from this website.
