The group, famed for tracks like ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ and ‘The Lovecats’, will top the line-up
at the event which won Best Major Festival at this year’s UK Festival Awards.
Organiser
Rob da Bank said: “I’ve spent the last twenty years of my life listening to The Cure and the last five attempting to persuade Robert
Smith and the crew to hop on a ferry to our magical Isle.
“I'm still not sure what we've done right
but I'm overjoyed that they are coming as Saturday night headliners. Few bands have had such a massive impact on my life
(and hairstyles) so I’ll see you down the front!”
Festival bosses have also added plenty of other
acts to the Bestival 2011 line-up including Brian
Wilson, Magnetic Man, Robyn, Crystal Castles and Primal
Scream who will play ‘Screamadelica’.
DJ Shadow, Katy B,
LFO, Omar Souleyman and Cranes will also play along with Boys Noize,
Diplo, A Trak, Norman Jay and Grandmaster Flash.
