Glastonbury given Promoter Of The Year at UK Festival Awards

Somerset bash wins prize for a sterling year

The team behind Glastonbury Festival were given Promoter Of The Year at the UK Festival Awards.

The prize was collected this evening (Thursday) as organisers still bathed in the success of their 40th anniversary in June.

Muse, Stevie Wonder and a last minute inclusion for Gorillaz capped an unforgettable and well-run event earlier in the year.

The Promoter Of The Year award winner was picked up a jury of journalists and industry experts who had to recognise the festival organiser who produced an outstanding event, overcame adversity, or truly went above and beyond the call of duty.

The Best Major, Best Medium-Sized and Best Small festival awards are to be announced later tonight as the UK Festival Awards continue.
